Killer crocodile shot dead by longhouse folk

SRI AMAN, Fri. - Iban villagers shot dead a monstrous crocodile believed to be the notorious "Bujang Senang" about two hours after the reptile killed a 20-year-old longhouse resident along Sungei Pelaban, a tributary of the Batang Lupar, near here yesterday. Dayang anak Bayang was killed while she and her parents from the nearby Rumah Imam longhouse in the Tanjong Seduku vicinity were on the way to their farm at about 9am. Dayang had crossed a section of Sungei Pelaban, about five metres wide and 1.3m deep, with some farming equipment while her parents waited on the opposite side of the bank.
