Socso: 84 claims from Sungai Buloh tragedy

PETALING JAYA, Mon. - The Social Security Organisation (Socso) received 84 claims for compensation from victims and families of victims who died in the May 7 Sungai Buloh factory fire. Socso Petaling Jaya manager A.P. Jothi Kandan told the Royal Commission of Inquiry probing the fire that 12 of the incidents reported to Socso involved fatalities. A total of 72 claims were for temporary disablement compensation, out of which 59 received temporary disablement benefits. He said only one of the claims related to the May 7 fire was still pending.
