THE director and scriptwriter of Perempuan, Isteri dan...? U-Wei Haji Shaari described himself at a recent forum to discuss the film, as a feminist. U-Wei contends that his portrayal of Zaleha (Sofia Jane Hisham), who was forced into prostitution by a jilted fiance, "represents the potential strength and power of women."
