Malaysia has jurisdiction in divorce case

KUALA LUMPUR: Former beauty queen Puan Sri Pauline Chai Siew Phin failed to stay a court ruling that allowed her estranged husband, Tan Sri Khoo Kay Peng, to hear their billion-ringgit divorce proceeding in a Malaysian civil court. High Court judge Datuk Yeoh Wee Siam dismissed her application for a stay against a High Court decision ruling that it had jurisdiction. Chai has appealed against the ruling at the Court of Appeal. In dismissing the application, the court ruled that under the law, an appeal did not operate as a stay.
