Ashram hopes to get heritage status early

KUALA LUMPUR: The Save Vivekananda Ashramam Action Committee hopes the historical building will be gazetted as a heritage building within 90 days. Its chairman, G. Gunasegaran, said as the Interim Protection Order was served by the Heritage Commission to the ashram early this month, it maintained the status quo of the ashram from any development-related activities. "We have until April. We hope it will be gazetted into a heritage site within three months," he said, adding that the application was waiting for perusal by the Attorney-General's Chambers.
