Cartoonist arrested, copies of book seized
KUALA LUMPUR: A controversial cartoonist was arrested by police under the Sedition Act yesterday evening. It is understood that police raided his office in Kuala Lumpur and seized over 70 copies of his new book. The cartoonist was supposed to have launched his book yesterday but police held him ahead of the scheduled unveiling. Previously, he used cartoons to highlight contentious issues such as the sodomy trial of opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and police shootings. It is learnt that police raided his office about 4pm. City police chief Datuk Muhammad Sabtu Osman confirmed the arrest but declined to comment.
