American doctorate for Indrani Samy Vellu

KUALA LUMPUR, Sat. - Datin Seri Indrani Samy Vellu, chairman of a local Tamil daily newspaper, has been conferred an honorary doctorate in Literature by a university in the United States. The Tamil Nesan chairman received the California-based International University degree at a ceremony in Madras, India, on Jan 25, an official said today. Datin Seri Indrani, wife of Energy, Telecommunications and Posts Minister, Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu, received the award from the university representative, Indian High Court judge Mr Justice A.R.
