A top name in Sarawak
NGIU KEE may be hardly mentioned outside Sarawak but it's a household name in the state. Within four decades, the Ngiu Kee Department Store and Supermarket has emerged as Sarawak's largest retail store chain with an annual turnover of RM130 million. The family-owned business that started as a general trading store in Sibu in colonial Sarawak now has a chain of 10 stores in major towns - Kuching, Sibu, Miri, Bintulu, Sarikei and Mukah. Ngiu Kee will move into a bigger premise in Miri by April when the Imperial Plaza is completed. In October it will open a new store in Limbang in northern Sarawak.
