Air passenger traffic exceeds 2019 level
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s air passenger traffic recorded 9.2 million passengers in January, which is 106.1 per cent of the volume recorded in January 2019. This marked the first time it exceeded pre-pandemic volumes. The Malaysian Aviation Commission said passenger volumes had grown 3.8 per cent month-on-month from December 2024 and 28.2 per cent year-on-year from January 2024. The improved performance was driven by strong travel demand during the Chinese New Year and school holidays, as well as the restoration of seat capacity.
