Man loses RM478,000 to investment scam

KUANTAN: A retiree has lost RM478,050 after falling for an investment scam on Facebook. Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman said the victim had seen an advertisement for am MMCT Pro investment scheme on July 16. “The victim was told he would earn profits of up to 300 per cent on his total investment.” He then made 33 transactions to four bank accounts between Sept 9 and Oct 22. Yahaya said the victim suspected something amiss when he could not withdraw his profits, and lodged a police report.
