Mpox outbreak

MALAYSIA has a new worry. No, not sinkholes. After all, the government has assured us that the earth won’t move under our feet. The new cause for concern is mpox, once thought to be a disease confined to Congo. Now it has spread to many parts of Africa and elsewhere. Sweden was the first country outside of Africa to report an mpox infection last week when a Swede returned from his trip to the continent. Malaysia, too, has not been spared, with nine cases reported up to last year. Our neighbours to the south, north and east are not free from the virus either.
