US$114.7b reserves up to July 31
KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Negara Malaysia’s international reserves amounted to US$114.7 billion as at July 31. The central bank said its reserves position was sufficient to finance 5.5 months of imports of goods and services and was 1.0 time of the total short-term external debt. The main components of the reserves were foreign currency reserves at US$102.4 billion, followed by International Monetary Fund reserves (US$1.3 billion), special drawing rights (US$5.7 billion), gold (US$2.9 billion) and other reserve (US$2.4 billion).
