Star denies talks with Metrovision

STAR Publications Bhd said that it is not in talks to buy debt-laden television station Metrovision. Star said there are no discussions to buy Metropolitan TV Sdn Bhd, which owns the defunct television station. It was replying to a query from the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange on a Business Times report that Star's share price surged after speculation that it would buy the broadcaster. Last Wednesday, Star bought wireless broadcasting company Radio Rediffusion Sdn Bhd for RM24.3 million cash. It said the acquisition is in line with its strategy to expand into media and media-related fields.
