PM performs prayers at Masjid Putra

FRIDAY prayers were performed for the first time at the Putra Mosque, one of the landmarks of the new federal administrative capital in Putra Jaya. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad was among those who performed their prayers at the mosque which could accommodate 15,000 people. He was accompanied by wife Datin Seri Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali and Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Abdul Halim Ali. The mosque, with its pink dome and a 116m-tall minaret, faces a scenic man-made lake and is located not far from the new Prime Minister's Department complex which houses the Office of the Prime Minister.
