New satelite town

A 200-HECTARE site the Sarawak-West Kalimantan border has been earmarked for a satellite town to replace Tebedu town, 100 km from Kuching, a state official said. About 8,000 people in Tebedu, mostly farmers, will benefit from the project to be completed during the Sixth Malaysia Plan period, said Frankie Baie, the Sarawak administrative officer for Tebedu Sub-district. Work to survey the area, which is situated close to the highway linking Tebedu town with Sarawak-West Kalimantan entry point, was completed last month, he told reporters at his office on Tuesday.
