THE Home Affairs Ministry will be aware of the manufacture of hazardous goods such as explosives only if an application is made through local authorities. This is because a representative from the Police Department sits on the local authorities board. Deputy Home Affairs Minister Datuk Megat Junid Megat Ayub, when asked whether an application was made for the manufacture of fireworks, by ill-fated Bright Sparklers which was destroyed in Tuesday's tragedy, said he was not sure.
