Protest over broadcast

JAKARTA: A broadcast on Radio and Television Malaysia (RTM) of the November 12 bloody shooting in Dili, East Timor, has sparked protests here, news reports said yesterday. "The Government of Malaysia should explain the background of broadcasting such news," the Media Indonesia daily quoted Ais Anantama a member of the Indonesian Youth Reform Force, a youth group affiliated to the ruling Golkar party, as saying. The television broadcast on the World News programme on Wednesday showed a documentary of the shooting in Dili, East Timor, where Indonesian troops opened fire into a crowd of demonstrators and killed scores of civilians.
