New Kota Belud abattoir to boost Sabah revenue

KOTA BELUD: Sabah’s meat and livestock industry received a boost with the opening of a RM1.35 million abattoir here. Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan said abattoir services generated more than RM700,000 in revenue for the government last year. “Abattoirs are important for the meat and livestock industry,” said Kitingan, who is also state agriculture and fisheries minister, at the launch on Monday. “The previous abattoir was damaged in the 2015 floods and the government has been working on this new, modern abattoir to meet the industry’s demands.” The new abattoir is located on higher ground.
