Valid gas licence a must for laundry operators

PUTRAJAYA: Laundry operators in Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah who use piped gas systems, especially Liquefied Petroleum Gas for dryers and water heaters, need to get a valid gas approval and licence from the Energy Commission. The commission said this was to ensure that the design of the piped gas system at the premises is installed under the set standards and can be operated safely. It said at present, there were still laundry operators who, in lacking awareness or ignoring the legal requirements and safety standards set, may cause accidents, fires or explosions arising from gas leaks.
