* FIRST political party to be formed was the Sarawak United Peoples Party (SUPP). It was formed on June 12, 1959, with former Minister for Science, Technology and Environment Tan Sri Ong Kee Hui as its chairman and Datuk Amar Stephen Yong Kuet Tze as secretary-general. Ong continued to lead the party until 1982 before passing the baton to Yong who is also a former Minister for Science, Technology and Environment.
