Sarawak seeks egg export growth in Singapore
KUCHING: Sarawak is expected to export eggs to Singapore soon, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas yesterday. He said Singapore Food Agency had inspected layer poultry farms here and in Samarahan last year. “Our industry players are using technology to enhance productivity and efficiency. We are also free of the Avian flu. Thus, there is great demand for our eggs.” Uggah, who is agriculture modernisation, native land and regional development minister, said the state had 45 layer farms with a combined layer population of 3.3 million heads that could produce 850 million eggs. “The total number of eggs exported last year was 48 million valued at RM13.5 million.…
