AGRICULTURE AND AGRO-BASED INDUSTRY MINISTRY ACHIEVEMENTS AND GOALS

THE growth in the agro-food sector in 2017 showed a significant contribution to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of RM37.2 billion or 3.2 per cent and total trade of RM83 billion. Overall, the development of the agro-food sector is on track as set out in the National Agro-Food Policy 2011-2020. The Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry is committed in updating the policy and programme implementation plan by creating an inclusive model to address current challenges such as lack of productivity and the use of technology as well as inadequate value chains.
