Malaysia opens embassy in Peru

LIMA: Malaysia opened an embassy in Peru on Thursday, the first Southeast Asian nation to establish diplomatic ties with Peru. Malaysian business representative Salleh Nazarudin presented his credentials to the foreign ministry and said the ambassador would arrive in October. The embassy was set up following Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad's visit last year. Peru opened its embassy in Kuala Lumpur in 1992.
