Moving to opportunity

POVERTY is not congenital. It can be eradicated. All that is needed is a change of address. So say Raj Chetty, Nathaniel Hendren and Lawrence F. Katz of Harvard University in their paper titled “The Effects of Exposure to Better Neighborhoods on Children: New Evidence from the Moving to Opportunity Experiment”. In the “Moving to Opportunity” research project they conducted, the three academics came up with a neat insight: children whose families move to better neighbourhoods have a good chance to do well.
