MALAYSIAN roads host monstrous traffic. They get even more monstrous during peak hours, turning expressways into a sea of vehicles. It takes a toll on the drivers behind the wheels and others in the passenger seats. They don’t just lose hours on the road; they age their internal organs with unbargained for stress. Others lose even more; they pay with their lives, mostly as a result of accidents with heavy vehicles. It is for this reason road users were jubilant when the Malaysian Highway Authority announced a ban on heavy vehicles during peak hours.
